BioChar

AEG, together with AltEn is currently considering options to produce up to 20,000 tons per year of BioChar from the Mead NE Biofuels refinery anaerobic digester waste and wet distillers’ grains. The BioChar produced will initially have minimal nutrient value, but serves as a valuable soil amendment for biological crop production. It enhances fertilizer applications as it retains run off and improves plants’ ability to receive nutrients. We are also considering methods to infuse NPK nutrients into the BioChar to produce a designer BioChar with adjustable NPK values depending on the application. We are presently marketing for a similar BioChar producer in Ohio with 2,000 tons per year of available BioChar product from dairy cow manure and bedding. Manure and anaerobic digestion solids are both excellent inputs for BioChar soil amendments.
